Robert J. Westbrook is Of Counsel to Goldsmith & Bogisch, assisting it in specific matters while maintaining his own office for the general practice of law.  Mr. Westbrook was born in Baltimore, Maryland, and grew up in the Baltimore area.  Upon graduating from Dickinson College, Carlisle, Pennsylvania, Mr. Westbrook was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army, in which he served for four years.  After completing his military service, Mr. Westbrook attended the University of Tulsa School of Law in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and graduated from that institution with honors in 1981.

Mr. Westbrook has handled a wide variety of matters, including real estate, oil and gas, and general civil litigation involving construction disputes, employment matters, securities fraud claims, insurance disputes, bankruptcy, probate matters, and commerical collections in both state and federal courts at both the trial and appellate levels.  Mr. Westbrook is admitted to practice before the Texas Supreme Court, the Oklahoma Supreme Court, the United States Courts of Appeal for the Fifth and Tenth Circuits, the United States District Courts for the Western, Eastern, and Northern Districts of Texas, and the United States District Courts for the Northern, Western, and Eastern Districts of Oklahoma.  Mr. Westbrook's reported cases include Heimann v. National Elevator Industry Pension Fund, 187 F. 3d 493 (5th Cir. 1999), and Dix v. Brooks, 2006 WL 903738 (Tex. App. - Austin 2006, no writ).

Other than matters that have been specifically identified to the client in the legal services agreement or on the invoice for the services, Mr. Westbrook's practice and G&B's practice are completely separate.

Mr. Westbrook is active in his community and served as President of the Austin Sigma Chi Alumni Chapter, as well as several offices in the Knights of Columbus council for his church.  He has also been an active supporter of school and sports activities for his two daughters.

Mr. Westbrook holds a Black Belt in the art of Shaolin Kempo Karate and is a certified Scuba diver.
