Karen Ann Bogisch is a partner in Goldsmith & Bogisch. Ms. Bogisch was born in San Antonio on September 1, 1966. She grew up in Seguin, Texas where her father was the Vice President for Development of Texas Lutheran College. She was the salutatorian of the 1984 Senior Class at Seguin High School. Ms. Bogisch received her B.A. degree, summa cum laude, from Texas Lutheran College in 1988 where she majored in economics. She was inducted into the Alpha Chi honor society and was an intern for the United States Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Anti-trust, Monopolies and Business Rights in 1987. Ms. Bogisch graduated from Boston College Law School cum laude in 1991.
Ms. Bogisch was hired by Levoff & Cornblatt in Newton, Massachusetts after graduating from law school. She then returned to Texas and was hired by Goodall, Davison & Goldsmith where she began working on oil and gas title work and litigation with Mr. Goldsmith. Ms. Bogisch prepared title opinions on deep gas wells in West Texas and horizontal wells in the Austin Chalk trend and was instrumental in a number of oil and gas and mining cases. Ms. Bogisch and Mr. Goldsmith formed Goldsmith & Bogisch in 1998 and Ms. Bogisch actively practices in the firm's areas of oil and gas law, civil litigation, bankruptcy, employment law, and business law.
Ms. Bogisch writes and speaks on legal topics and has authored the following published papers: "Ethical Considerations for Real Estate Attorneys," National Business Institute, Mastering Real Estate Titles and Title Insurance in Texas, 1998. Co-Author: "Sun Operating v. Holt: The Force Majeure Clause in the Computer Age," State Bar of Texas, Advanced Oil, Gas and Mineral Law Course, 1999. Author and Lecturer: "Oil and Gas Title Examination: The Oil and Gas Title Opinion" and "Texas Title Examination: Easements and Implied Dedications," Lorman Education Services, Title Examination in Texas, 2001, 2004 and 2005; "Selected Recent Cases in Title Issues," Lorman Education Services, Title Examination in Texas, 2004, and 2005 "Clearing Leins on Real Property," Halfmoon, LLC, Solving real Estate Problems in Texas, 2004; and "Private Prescriptive Easements, Express and Implied Dedications, and Easements by Necessity, Implication and Estoppel," Lorman Education Services, Law of Easements: Legal Issues and Practical Considerations in Texas, 2005 and 2006. Ms. Bogisch also presented her paper on "Selected Recent Cases on Title Issues" at the 2004 annual conference of the National Association of Lease Title Analysts.
Ms. Bogisch is active in the State and Austin Bar Associations and the Austin community. Since 1996, Ms. Bogisch has performed in Bar & Grill, a benefit show sponsored by the Austin Bar Association and the Austin Young Lawyers Association to raise money for the legal services for the poor. Ms. Bogisch was President of the Rotary Club of North Austin in 2000-2001 and has been a member of its board of directors for a total of seven years. She is a member of the Civil Litigation, Oil Gas and Mineral Law, and Labor and Employment Law sections of the Austin Bar Association. In 2001-2002 Ms. Bogisch was the Chairman of the Oil, Gas and Mineral Law Section and one of the Directors of the Travis County Bar Association. Ms. Bogisch is a member of the College of the State Bar of Texas which requires extensive participation in continuing legal education as a prerequisite to membership.
Ms. Bogisch is admitted to practice before state courts in Texas and Massachusetts and before Federal courts in the Western District of Texas. |
